Please join us for the 6th annual Mystic Krewe of Arfeous Mardi Gras dog parade! The 2009 parade is themed “Indiana Bones :And the Kingdom of Hairy Paws ”, and will be rolling through the streets of the Village of Baytowne Wharf on Sunday, February 22nd, 2009.

The streets will be filled with costumed dogs and their humans throwing a myriad of throws, beads, and parade favors. Themed convertibles, small floats (especially pulled by masters), golf carts, bicycles, and decorated wagons will be everywhere and Mardi Gras music will fill the air! The Mystic Krewe of Arfeous Mardi Gras dog parade is one of the premier canine events on the Emerald Coast with members of the four-pawed community coming far and wide to participate.

Each year, our Mystic Krewe of Arfeous Royalty is chosen to represent a local rescue/shelter organization which represents homeless and abandoned animals everywhere. The 2009 chosen non-profit charity is to be announced. A portion of our registration fees will be donated to this worthy organization.

The King and Queen Arfeous’ duties will be to oversee the parade festivities as well as doing special appearances prior to the parade, and in doing so, bringing awareness to the thousands of homeless and abused animals across the country.

For more information on the parade, please call Bark Avenue at 850-267-9400 or email info@barkavenue.com. For a registration form, click on 2009 Registration Form. Due to limited space, please register early!

And the fun doesn’t end yet………..prepare to let your hair down on what many call the most festive day of the year, Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. “Laissez les bon temps rouler” (let the good times roll) with the 7th annual Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade rolling through Sandestin. Yell “throw me something mister” as unique and colorful floats, golf carts, and pick up trucks roll down the streets and marchers dressed up in all their Mardi gras best shower parade-goers with a barrage of beads, moon pies, and other trinkets. The post parade celebration continues into the night with street performers, “throws” tossed from balconies on Main Street, and parties at various Village establishments. The Village is looking for Krewes to join in the Mardi Gras festivities. To participate in this exciting event, or to volunteer, please contact Baytowne Wharf at 850-267-8118.
